Friends & Family Beta Agreement
Welcome to the Checked Off Friends & Family beta. This agreement covers your participation as an early tester. It's intentionally short and plain. If anything here doesn't sit right, please don't accept - just reply and we'll talk.
By accepting beta access (clicking through, downloading the app, or joining the tester Discord), you agree to the following.
1. What you're getting
Early access to Checked Off, free of charge, while it's still in active development. The app will have rough edges, will change between builds, and may occasionally lose data, fail to launch, or behave unexpectedly. That's the nature of a beta.
2. What we're asking of you
- Use the app. The point is for it to actually be in your daily life.
- Tell us when something breaks. Through the in-app reporter, the tester Discord, or directly to Jill.
- Tell us when something's annoying or unclear. Negative feedback is more useful than polite feedback.
- Keep beta builds and screenshots within the tester group. Please don't post pre-release builds, screenshots of unfinished features, or substantive details about unreleased functionality publicly. Sharing the fact that you're testing is fine; sharing specifics is not.
3. Use at your own risk
The app is provided "as is," with no warranties of any kind, express or implied. We make no promise that it will work, that your data will be preserved, that it will be free of bugs, or that it will be available continuously. Back up anything you'd be sad to lose.
4. Your feedback
Anything you tell us about the app - bug reports, feature ideas, opinions, suggestions, complaints - we may use, freely and without compensation, to improve Checked Off. You retain ownership of anything you create using the app (your tasks, your projects, your data); we're only claiming the right to use feedback about the app itself.
5. Privacy
Your data lives on your device by default. Privacy-respecting analytics are sent to us so we can see how the app is being used in aggregate. Full details in the Privacy Policy. If you have a specific privacy question, ask Jill directly.
6. We can end your access at any time
We may revoke beta access for any reason - including no reason. We'll usually tell you why, but we don't have to. Common reasons: the beta is closing, we're rotating cohorts, or testing isn't a fit. Nothing personal is implied by access being pulled.
7. You can leave at any time
Stop using the app, leave the Discord, and that's it. No process, no exit interview required.
8. This is a beta, not a job
You're a volunteer tester, not an employee, contractor, or partner. There's no compensation, no equity, no employment relationship, and no obligation on either side beyond what's written here.
9. When this ends
This agreement covers your beta participation. When Checked Off goes generally available, the public Terms of Service will replace this agreement for any continued use of the app. We'll let you know when that switch happens.
10. Legal stuff
This agreement is governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Any disputes go to the state and federal courts located in Pennsylvania. If any part of this agreement is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
If you have questions, email hello@321oak.com or reach Jill in the tester Discord.
By accepting (clicking through, downloading, or joining the tester Discord):
- You agree to the above
- You confirm you're at least 18 years old
- You confirm you're testing in a personal capacity, not on behalf of an employer
